AquaRealms: A Watercolor Workshop by Bridger Barksdale

Learn the essential techniques and principles to create beautiful watercolor paintings in this multi-day workshop by Bridger Barksdale. In collaboration with Workshop SLC, you can discover the tools necessary to compose striking images in a notoriously allusive medium. With a strong foundation in drawing, Mr. Barksdale believes that anyone can make a unique and powerful image. In this course for intermediate to advanced watercolorists, you will develop an understanding of picture construction by incorporating modern-day tools such as photoshop into your working method. You will be given a deeper appreciation for shape, direction, rhythm, and harmony. The outline for this course will take the form of lessons, demonstrations, and one-on-one portfolio critique. We hope to see you there!

City of Lions: A vignette

Local artist Bridger Barksdale exhibits works in watercolor to tell a story of L’viv Ukraine, a city which he had the honor of visiting shortly prior to Russia's invasion on February 24, 2022. Mr. Barksdale’s work is motivated by his direct experience and desire to capture moments that he cannot allow to fade into memory. The attack on Ukraine has inspired him to preserve cobbled streets in the only way he knows how–through art.

Open Studio Show

Come see where the magic happens at my studio! Let me show you all my work in progress as well as my finished pieces; most things will be for sale. Refreshments and music will be provided. This will be a great opportunity to ask me anything from my process to my philosophy of art which I could only wish to convey with my broad brush.

This event will run from 6:00 pm -9:00 pm on Friday the 1st, and from 10:00 am-6:00 pm on Saturday the 2nd. From 4:00 pm-5:00 pm on Saturday I will give a demonstration in watercolor. I will be streaming the Friday night event as well as the demonstration so if you can't make it in person I hope you will meet with me virtually.

I hope to see you there!
